The Fellowship will be awarded to enable outstanding researchers and practitioners from U.S. Institutions to make extended visits to IIASA to collaborate with IIASA researchers. Summer visits will include opportunities to support the Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP). Recipients will be “De Jánosi Visiting Fellows”.
In addition to collaborating with members of the IIASA staff, De Jánosi Visiting Fellows will be expected to do one or more of the following:
- present a public lecture suited to a general audience.
- lead a seminar for the IIASA community,
- hold discussions with members of the research community, both within and outside IIASA, particularly with YSSP Fellows if the visit takes place during summer.
The minimum length of visit and appointment as a De Jánosi Visiting Fellow is two weeks, and the maximum length is six months. There may be more than one such visitor in a calendar year.
An individual may be appointed as a De Jánosi Visiting Fellow more than once; however, successive appointments will be separated by at least two years.
The recipients may be in any area of research that is of interest to members of the IIASA Research Staff. However, in recognition of the interests of Peter De Jánosi in the application of research results to critical societal challenges, preference will be shown to candidates whose work is directly relevant to public and private sector decision makers and managers.
